Dragon's Journey, The: From Saigon To Sydney, The Compelling Story Of A Boy Who Eventually Came To Realise His Mother's Dreams
by Duy Long Nguyen & James Knight
About This Book
The thoughtful autobiography relates the story of Vietnamese Australian Long Nguyen born in 1964 in a South Vietnamese Army family. He tells of the increasingly horrific and disrupted life in Saigon, which led up to his finally successful escape 1980 by boat, rescue by a Japanese ship, and transfer as a UN refugee to Sydney. Schooling, work, involvement in the edges of the underworld were followed by astonishing celebrity and success as a healer using massage techniques learnt from indigenous mountain people in Vietnam. The book ends in setting down his feelings on returning to Vietnam in 2003. Bibliography and index.
