About This Book
'Dignity Overdue' was the slogan adopted by the "The Working Committee 2" (TWC2) to sum up its aims in campaigning on the issue of the position of foreign domestic workers in Singapore.
150,000 women from neighbouring countries are employed in Singapore as domestic workers. The book 'Dignity Overdue' begins by examining their status and experiences and also considers the impact their employment is having on the host society's values and outlook.
It goes on to tell the story of TWC2's formation, its activities and the challenges it faced. 'Dignity Overdue' is a record of the experiences of one civil society organisation in Singapore that set out to help change attitudes and practices governing the relationship between employers, agencies and domestic workers.
