We Are Family: Stories Of People With Disabilities
by
About This Book
This is a clearly expressed, illustrated and inspiring account of how a dozen Singaporeans who have disabilities (and abilities) deal with their school, work and family life. Four journalism students, in their final year at Nanyang Technological University, investigated and set out in this volume the realities the disabled in Singapore face in the areas of employment, transport and accessibility, love, education and sports. While improved family involvement, official policies and much community effort are leading to remarkable and fuller lives for some people with disabilities, there clearly remains a good deal of insensitivity and no place for complacency.
