by Chrisnandi, Yuddy (Ed.)
About This Book
Based on doctoral study, this monograph by an actively engaged M.P. discusses military-civil interrelationships in Indonesia since 1998. The country's military (TNI) have since independence always been a major or controlling force in Indonesia's political and economic development. Chapter 1 discusses TNI's role under President Habibie (1998-9). The Reformation Era under Presidents Abdul Wahid (1999 - 2001) and Megawati (2001 - 2004) is seen as showing quasi-objective civil control. The final chapter discusses the abolition of the dual civil/military identity which is being established by President Yudhoyono. With bibliography and glossary.
