Journal Kyaw U Chit Maung (1914-1946) was a journalist and writer active in Burma's Independence movement and with his wife founder of the influential 'Journal Kyaw'. This newly-translated monograph was written by his widow ten months after his 1946 death in Rangoon. Her information and insights show the character and life achievements of a remarkable man in the last eight years of his life and enable more understanding of the country's turbulence at the end of the colonial era. There are also many insights into the values and priorities of the society and of a devout, cultured and determined woman. With U Chit Maung's 1945 article "The real origin and causes of the Burma Rebellion of 1930-1932" and also his 1945 "Statement of the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League".
