This is a very short but clear summary of the often-disputed actions and backlashes which led to the 1965 fall of allegedly  near-Communist President Sukarno. The near-uncontrolled violence of September 1965, the killing of over a million Indonesians, the imprisonment of tens of thousands, and the years of President Suharot's "anti-Communist" policies are described. After the 1998 defeat of President Suharto signs of ongoing, left-wing resurgence are discerned.
