Leo Haks' first exposure to paper ceremonial objects was when he walked into a Chinese paper shop in North Bridge Road in Singapore in 1975. His fascination -- and collection -- grew over the years, resulting in this unusual and beautifully produced book. These traditional Chinese art objects, mostly made of paper, are used in opera and in funerary and other ceremonies. Many were made in China, and collected in Singapore over many years. The beauty and wide range of the costumes, decorations and other objects is astonishing!
