Lectures are given at the contemporary Arts Centre of South Australia as it promotes art practice, critical analysis and debate. These five 2005 lectures explore: natural disasters and Islam with discussion of the 2004 tsunami in Indonesia; art workers' creativity, and protest in Indonesia and Malaysia; friendship, and the interaction of Lee Kuan Yew and ex-President of Singapore, Devan Nair; the undertones of activity of an aboriginal star of Australian Rules football; and cultural hybridity in relation to the search for Australian identity.
