This is a detailed account and reassessment of two Australian raids on Japanese-occupied Singapore. Operation Jaywick of February 1942 and Operation Rimau of October 1943. Much of the book is based on hitherto-secret information which in part undermines earlier versions of the tragic events. Details are given of the aims, training and personnel involved and of their heroic and gruelling experiences, which led to the "failed" raids and their death or execution. Subsequent myths, events, reports, cover-ups and evasions are discussed and some records and relevant information revealed for the first time. With archival photographs, sketch maps, source notes, casualty lists, bibliography and index.
