This book is a selection of papers presented at the December 2002 international conference, "Globalization: New Horizons for Educational Change", organised by the Hong Kong Educational Research Association. The conference was convened to: 1) search for the very meaning of globalisation and its implications for schools and education; 2) understand the connections that globalisation is bringing about in education research, practices and policies; 3) explore new areas for educational research and development in the 21st century. The book has drawn upon the wisdom and experience of experts who have been intimately involved in important educational reforms in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
