The immense collection on the history of medicine in the Wellcome Library, London, includes important documents and other examples of Islamic calligraphy mostly of Iranian or Indian origin.  After an introductory essay on Arabic writing and scripts and traditional writing methods and equipment, some 90 examples of calligraphy are illustrated in full colour. Descriptions and orthography are given for each example. With maps, bibliography, indexes, quotation references, glossary, chronologies, and thumbnail illustrations.
