Originally published to complement a 1998 Minneapolis exhibition of netsuke, this catalogue remains a demonstration of the lively charm and diversity of netsuke carvings. An illustrated chapter on netsuke form and function introduces some 300 illustrated artefacts. Colour photos, provenance details and descriptive information are given for each netsuke.
