Population Movements and the Threat of HIV/Aids Virus at the Bangladesh-India Border (RSIS Monograph No. 14). This monograph extends the notion of securitisation in exploring and framing the concerns over the spread of HIV/AIDS. It claims that concerns over the spread of HIV/AIDS along territorial border regions constitute a human or non-traditional security threat that demands urgent and sustained policy attention. In this light, this monograph examines the socio-economic status of people living near the borders between Bangladesh and India. By uncovering the realities that explain the nature of cross-border migration and sexual behaviour/habits of the migrants, this monograph seeks to understand to what extent these activities have an effect on their level of socio-economic development. Eleven case studies are provided and policy recommendations are made for the state and NGOs.
