This, the first Singapore Yearbook of International Law, succeeds the bi-annual Singapore Journal of International and Comparative Law which has been appearing since 1997. The 15 scholarly articles and book reviews together make up a substantial contribution to professional thinking. These will in the main be of interest to legal and policy-making professionals but some papers will be of general interest e.g. "The Death Penalty in Singapore and International Law", a review of Singapore's major policy statements, and "The Role of Law in ASEAN Economic Cooperation".
