Hu Ming, born in Beijing in 1955, is a Chinese painter who now resides in Australia. This book is a catalogue of her oil paintings of women, many of them inspired by peasant women of Northern China.Her subjects are often nude, but always powerful and unapologetically curvaceous, even muscular, and suggesting of fecundity. This catalogue also contains an introduction written in English and Chinese by Mabel Lee of the University of Sydney, and a biography of Hu Ming in English.
