The Proceedings of the British Library/National Library of China 2005 6th International Dunhuang Project conservation conference of China show the vast extent of expert cooperative work which is involved in efforts to study and conserve the Dunhuang manuscripts, the world's oldest. Reports were given on the digitisation, ordering, conservation and cataloguing the 16,000 Dunhuang manuscripts, some scattered worldwide. Information was also offered on paper assessment, pigments and inks, and conservation techniques and on the virtual reconstruction of the Bezeklik wall painting and the technical examination of the Kharakhoto silk paintings. Bibliography and black-and-white archival illustrations. Bilingual in Chinese.
