Yeng Pway Ngon is a poet, novelist, playwright and critic who has published 24 volumes of poetry, essays, fiction, plays and literary criticism in the Chinese language. A recipient of Singapore's 2003 Cultural Medallion for Literature, Yeng is an icon in the Chinese literary scene. He won the Singapore Literature Prize in 2004 and 2008. One of his novels was named by Yazhou Zhoukan (Asiaweek magazine) as one of the Ten Best Chinese Novels in the World in 2006, and his latest novel won the same accolade in 2012.
